BASIS Knowledge Base Article #01154

Title:

What BASIS products and operating systems cannot use the new composite hostid?

Description:

Most of our products can download a current version of the BASIS License Manager (BLM) and work with the new composite hostids. Newer versions of the BLM will work with old products. However, there are few exceptions listed below.

AIX version 4.2 or earlier:

If you are running an Rev 2 or 3 version of Pro5 on this earlier AIX OS and require a new license file, please contact Technical Support. Our current versions of the BLMs are only supported back to AIX 4.3 and will not run on the earlier AIX OS.

SCO Pro5 Rev 5:

There is an issue with this specific Pro5 version that does not support the composite hostid license. Pro5 Rev 4 or earlier for SCO will work with the newer BLM and composite hostid license. Please contact Technical Support if you require a license for this version. See article KB01105 http://www.basis-knowledgebase.com/kb01105.html for additional information.

BBj Rev 3:

This version of BBj on all platforms does not support composite hostids. Please upgrade your BBj version to current product. If you are unable to upgrade your BBj product, please contact Technical Support if you require a license for this version.

Uncounted licenses do not support the composite hostid format. BASIS is no longer selling uncounted licenses as of 10/01/07 . If you have an existing product using an uncounted license a non composite hostid license is sent automatically when the product is registered.
