BASIS International Ltd. announces the release of version 6.21 of Visual PRO/5®, PRO/5®, and PRO/5 Data Server®. This new maintenance release includes resolution of QA memos and delivers the following benefits to BBx® developers:
● Greater flexibility
The OPEN verb opens encrypted files as a raw stream of bytes using ISZ=-1; a developer can now copy encrypted files implementing a custom copy routine rather than relying on the operating system.
● Improved security
A "write" to encrypted files now requires the correct password.
● Expanded backward compatibility with older Business BASICs
The new SETOPTS bit (SETOPTS byte 9, bit $80$) causes NUM(), as well as console and file input read with the READ or INPUT verb, to reject scientific notation that does not include a + or - after the E.
