Revision 3.0 gives you two important advantages. First, it brings our 64-bit file size to the Windows environment. This means you can offer your Windows customers virtually unlimited file sizes on platforms that support 64-bit files. The BASIS 64-bit file system gives your customers more than a billion billion bytes of storage, with the right hardware and operating system support.

BASIS also becomes one of the first companies to fully support Microsoft's new Windows 2000 operating system. Windows 2000 is Microsoft's enterprise-ready offering. BASIS Visual PRO/5 has long been the enterprise-level programming language for Windows platforms.

Revision 3.0 can also provide as much as a 25-percent improvement in search, read and write speeds on multikeyed MKEYED files. Revision 3.0 changes the structure of our MKEYED files. The changes are transparent to the developer using 64-bit files, but the user will see a noticeable improvement in speed. To gain these benefits on existing files, just convert them to 64-bit format.
